But starting an online business does not have to have a result like this - it can be different!
What you have to do is get yourself beyond the belief that there is a 'Get Rich Quick' button, a missing secret formula or piece of software that you have to find and you are on your way to instant riches. The existence of the get rich quick button is complete online business myth.
The quicker you realize this, the less money and time you will waste on starting your own internet business and get it going in a real, serious and fundamental way - you need to think about your business development in the long-term and do not search for this instant riches formula.
Starting your internet business with realistic expectations and structured with a long term outlook, you will be earning money, covering your operating costs and building your skills for a successful future and not join the ranks of the unsuccessful and failing 95%.
Now this journey of starting a web-base business is not easy. It does require a reasonable amount of persistent and consistent work - and slills that must be learned, but they are of such a kind that with structured assistance, a bit of trial-and-error you can succeed. So there is no reason why you cannot be successful - but don't expect these incredible fortunes that you hear toted about. An income of 40 000 - 60 000 dollars per annum is initially achievable. There after, well it is up to you.
What do you have to do to start up your internet business?
Firstly, take your business seriously; this is a real business!
Don't be deceived by the fact that just because it is online, it is not a serious business and does not need as much work and thinking as would put into an off-line business and consequently downgrade your planning, risk assessment and efforts.
Long-term income requires you to be consistent, persistent and but your business on a real business model.
Secondly,see starting your internet business as a serious of graduated steps - don't try and do everything at once.
Know where your are going and create a serious of steps to get you there.

As a beginner you are going to find three main problems that you will have to over come
- All the markets that you will initially think of will be the current 'hot sellers' and as a beginner you don't stand a chance. If you search around the next piece of advice you will be given is to follow your passions and interest. This strategy works for some. It did not for me. After writing two (2) eBooks I found I was better off giving them away for free, because my market loved the information, found me an expert but they were'nt prepared to pay for the information. They hurt but did not hurt enough. So finding the right niche is your first major problem.
